Private Airport Transfers to and from Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport (GNB)
Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport (GNB) is not in Grenoble. It sits at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, about 45 km (28 miles) north-west of the city, roughly 33 minutes by road in good conditions. Our private Grenoble airport transfers start at £138 per vehicle to Grenoble city centre.
Some GNB enquiries we get each winter ask for a quick hop into town, from travellers who saw "Grenoble" on the ticket and expected to land on its edge. GNB is a small regional airport, and most of its passenger traffic is winter ski flights from the UK, arriving in waves at weekends. A chauffeur who meets you in arrivals takes the stress out of the first hour of your trip, whether you are heading into Grenoble for business or straight up into the mountains.
GNB is the closest gateway to the Oisans resorts. Our private transfer from Grenoble Airport to Alpe d'Huez covers about 62 miles in around 1 hour 24 minutes in good conditions, and our Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes transfer is about 68 miles and 1 hour 34 minutes, both along the D1091 through the Romanche valley. Saturday changeover traffic and winter conditions can add to these times. The airport also serves the Tarentaise resorts of Méribel, Courchevel, Val Thorens and Val d'Isère, and nearer ski areas such as Chamrousse, Vaujany and Villard-de-Lans. A private transfer puts your family or group in one vehicle, with your luggage and ski kit loaded for you, and we track your flight so a late Saturday arrival does not leave you stranded. If your flights work better through Switzerland, our Geneva Airport transfers cover the same resorts from the alternative gateway.
Why Choose Airport Executive for Transfers to and from GNB
A private transfer from GNB gives you one vehicle, one fixed fare and a chauffeur waiting when you land, with no coach timetable to fit around. You can rely on trusted chauffeurs with punctuality.
- Meet and greet in arrivals with a name board, and help with your luggage
- Flight tracking in real time
- Affordable rates, with no hidden or extra charges
- One fixed price per vehicle, agreed at booking, so a group splits a single fare
- A vehicle for every party, from the Economy Saloon and Business Class Saloon to the First Class Saloon, with the Economy XL (up to 5 passengers) and Business Class XL (up to 7 passengers) for families and ski kit
- 24x7 support, so you can book us anytime from anywhere
- One way, return or by the hour bookings
- Corporate accounts are available, or simply pay online
If your family or group would otherwise buy four or more shared coach seats, compare that total with a single per-vehicle fare, for example £248 to Alpe d'Huez or £252 to Les Deux Alpes. It is the sum GNB groups ask us about most, usually parties of five or six with ski bags.
Pick-ups and Drop-offs at Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport
GNB is a small airport, so meeting your chauffeur is straightforward: they wait for you in the arrivals hall after baggage reclaim. On the way home, you are dropped in the airport's designated drop-off area rather than at the terminal kerb, because the airport's access rules do not allow passengers to be set down in front of the terminal.
Arrivals
Your flight number and mobile number go to your chauffeur in advance, and because we follow your flight in real time, an early landing or a long delay simply moves your pickup with it.
Once you have collected your cases and any ski or board bags, walk through to the arrivals hall, where your chauffeur will be waiting with a name board to help with your luggage and walk you to the vehicle. Groups often land at GNB on two flights an hour or so apart, and we would usually ask whether the first arrivals want to wait for the rest or travel on ahead.
Departures
We set your return pickup time when you book, working back from your flight time and the drive from your resort or hotel (see the timing tips below). Your chauffeur drops you in the P2 car park, the airport's drop-off and pick-up area (first 10 minutes free), and helps you unload your luggage and ski bags. Saturday check-in at the end of a ski week is busy, so arrive with time in hand.
Airport Extras Available at Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport
GNB is a compact regional airport. It lists food outlets, a small selection of shops including duty free, unlimited wifi and a cash machine. It does not list fast track, a public passenger lounge in the main terminal, porters or left luggage.
Fast track: none is listed for security or passport control, so expect to queue on busy winter weekends.
Lounges: the only lounges mentioned on the airport's services and facilities page sit within its Business Aviation Terminal section, not the main terminal.
Porters and luggage storage: neither is listed. If you need to store bags before a late flight, check with the airport before you travel. Your chauffeur helps with your luggage, skis and boots at both ends of the journey.
Shops and restaurants: food and drink at Grenoble Airport includes Le Séquoia, a restaurant with runway views that closes for the first three weeks of August and gives diners 2 hours 30 minutes of free parking on showing their parking ticket. Trib's outlets in the terminal building sell sandwiches, salads, pastries, snacks and hot and cold drinks, opening to suit flight schedules and at weekends. The airport's shops include Relay for newspapers and travel accessories, a Duty Free shop with perfumes, cosmetics and spirits, Maison Cardinet for local farmhouse cheese, and Terres de Berlioz, a tourist office stand in the departure lounges selling local specialities. The airport's cash machine is just outside the arrivals hall and available 24 hours a day from December to April.
Airport Timing Tips
The time from landing to meeting your chauffeur depends largely on passport control. Flights from the UK are international arrivals into France, so you pass through it on arrival, while domestic French flights do not. The EU Entry/Exit System is being introduced across the Schengen area, and first-time visitors may need to register fingerprints and a photo at the border. GOV.UK's entry requirements for France warn travellers to be prepared to wait longer than usual, and note that your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before you arrive and be valid for at least 3 months after you plan to leave. On winter Saturdays, the arrivals hall can be very busy when several ski flights land together. No reliable figure is published for how long the queue takes, but your chauffeur tracks your flight and waits for you.
For departures, the airport's check-in guidance asks you to arrive 2 hours 30 minutes before your flight. Airlines close check-in between 40 and 60 minutes before departure, and check-in and boarding can be refused after that. GOV.UK also advises allowing extra time for checks when leaving the Schengen area. Your pickup time depends on where you are staying, so we set it when you book. Alpe d'Huez is about 1 hour 24 minutes from the airport in good conditions and longer in snow or Saturday traffic, so allow for the whole transfer, the check-in advice and a margin for mountain roads. The Oisans resorts are reached via the D1091, so check Itinisère, the Isère live road information service before you travel. We monitor conditions too.
