Your Private Transfer From Geneva to Morzine

Our private Geneva to Morzine transfers cover 79.7 km, or 50 miles, and take about an hour and a quarter in good conditions. Airport Executive runs it as a chauffeur-driven journey from £321, in a vehicle for your party alone, with no shared coach and no stops for other passengers. The route is part of our Geneva Airport transfers service and our wider network of destinations across France.

By Alpine standards, Morzine is close, and most of the road is motorway. On a drive this short, the airport decides how arrival day goes: the passport queue, the wait for your bags and skis and, on a shared run, the wait for everybody else's flight.

A private car takes that last wait away. Your chauffeur follows your flight, waits in arrivals however long the queue has been, and leaves when your party is ready.

Whether you are a family with a full set of ski kit, a chalet group booked into more than one property, a corporate party with a programme to keep, or landing outside your chalet company's transfer times, a private transfer starts the week on your timetable. In summer, mountain bikers use the same road, bikes and all.

Morzine is a working town rather than a car-free resort, so your chauffeur takes you to your accommodation where vehicles are permitted, or to the nearest permitted drop-off.

What Your Transfer Includes

  • Room for skis, snowboards and hard-shell cases alongside your passengers

  • One-way or return, booked together or separately

How Much Is a Geneva to Morzine Transfer?

A private transfer from Geneva Airport to Morzine starts from £321. That covers the 50 mile journey to Morzine centre, about an hour and a quarter in good conditions, in a vehicle used only by your party, with the price fixed when you book.

Three things move the final quote. The first is your party and the vehicle class it needs: a couple with two soft ski bags and a chalet group of eight with board bags need very different vehicles. The second is the drop point, since any address beyond Morzine centre is priced when you book. The third is the week you travel, because the peak holiday weeks are the most heavily booked of the season.

Once the quote is agreed, nothing is added for a slow Saturday through the valley, a late landing or fresh snow past Les Gets.

Most UK guests in Morzine stay in a chalet, and many chalet companies run their own shared airport transfer. Simply Morzine, for example, publishes its shared Geneva transfer at £50 each way per person for self-catered guests and the public, and includes it free for its catered guests.

If your transfer is included and your flight fits the run, take it. If you are paying per seat, a shared seat is cheaper per head for a smaller group. Four people at £50 is £200 one way, while a private vehicle from £321 works out at about £80 each. Because our price is for the vehicle rather than the seat, the gap narrows as your group grows, although a larger group or a lot of kit may need a bigger vehicle, and your quote confirms which. What the private car gives you is no waiting at the airport, a drop at your accommodation where vehicles are permitted, room for your kit and a pickup however late your flight lands.

We hear from plenty of chalet guests whose transfer is included but whose flight lands outside the shared run. That is where the private car earns its place, as we cover under Other Ways to Reach Morzine below.

Areas of Morzine We Cover

Morzine is a proper town, spread along the valley floor and up the hillsides on either side, and the Morzine Avoriaz tourist office says its free shuttle buses serve every part of the village in winter and summer. Tell us the name and full address of your chalet, hotel or apartment when you book, so we can confirm where the vehicle can stop. Where a chalet group is split between properties, say one in the centre and one out towards Nyon, we would usually plan the drops so the family with the youngest children gets off first.

Morzine Centre

The town centre, around the tourist office, is the reference point for our £321 from-price. Street parking here is limited, so where a building cannot be reached directly, your chauffeur stops at the nearest permitted point and helps you unload.

Le Pléney and Nyon

Le Pléney, on the town side of the valley, is where the resort's shuttle lines start. Nyon sits further out, with its own cable car and a free shuttle linking it to the neighbouring village of Montriond.

Les Prodains

Les Prodains lies at the foot of the Prodains Express cable car up to Avoriaz, with a free shuttle back to Le Pléney. If you are staying up in Avoriaz itself, our Geneva to Avoriaz transfers page explains how arrival works in a car-free resort.

Erigné, Les Udrezants and Beyond

Shuttle line E runs out through Erigné to the Lac des Mines d'Or, and line D serves the hamlet of Les Udrezants. Addresses out here, and in neighbouring villages such as Montriond, are priced when you book.

The road from Geneva passes through Les Gets on the way in. If part of your group is staying there, it has its own page and its own price: see our Geneva to Les Gets transfers.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Geneva Airport

Arriving at Geneva

UK flights arrive from outside the Schengen area, so you pass passport control, collect your bags and clear Swiss customs before you reach the arrivals hall. How long that takes varies from flight to flight. On a busy winter weekend, the passport queue is the one part of the journey nobody can time in advance, and it is what our Morzine passengers talk about in the car, far more than the drive.

Geneva Airport sits right on the border, and its France Sector guidance says passengers arriving on an international flight cannot leave directly on the French side. You come out in Switzerland, and the drive to Morzine starts there.

Your chauffeur waits in arrivals with a name board. We track your flight, so a late landing or a slow queue moves your pickup rather than leaving you chasing a departure time. A scheduled coach works the other way round. The airport's coach station is outside the terminal on the Arrivals level, and coaches leave to a timetable whether or not you are through.

Returning to Geneva Airport

For the journey home, we set your pickup time around the road conditions on the day and your airline's check-in and bag drop deadlines, and we confirm the time before your departure day.

Simply Morzine says its shared departures normally leave resort four hours before the flight, and that guests may be asked to go up to 60 minutes earlier in winter. With a private car, your last morning is set around your own flight.

Book your return at the same time as your outbound journey, and both legs sit on one booking.

Vehicles Built for Ski Gear

A Morzine week rarely arrives with suitcases alone: there are skis or boards for everyone, boot bags, helmets and sometimes a pushchair, all needing space alongside the passengers.

We match the vehicle to the load as well as the headcount. Estate cars suit smaller groups with soft ski bags. Larger MPVs and minibuses take groups of six to eight with full equipment, so a chalet party can travel together.

When you book, tell us how many of you are travelling and list what you are bringing, including board bags, boot bags and anything oversized. If you need child seats, tell us at the same time.

Summer and Bikes

If you are bringing bikes, tell us how many and whether they are boxed or bagged when you book, and we will confirm the right vehicle before you travel.

Winter Timing Tips

Saturday is changeover day across the Portes du Soleil. Guests leaving and arriving share the motorway out of Geneva and the mountain road past Les Gets, so a winter Saturday is slower than the same drive midweek. We do not put a number on it, because it changes with the week and the weather, but we plan your pickup around the day you travel.

Late landings are common on winter weekends. When a late Morzine arrival goes wrong, it is rarely the road and almost always the key, which is the one thing we cannot arrange. Check-in and late arrival arrangements are set by your chalet, hotel or apartment, so give them your landing time and your chauffeur's name, and tell them you are coming by private car.

Christmas, New Year and February half term fill first, larger vehicles most of all. Book your transfer when you book your flights.

Winter driving is our concern rather than yours. Your chauffeur drives the road in a vehicle prepared for the conditions.

The Geneva to Morzine Route

From Geneva Airport, the road crosses into France and joins the A40 motorway heading east towards Cluses. The fastest route then leaves the motorway and climbs on the D902 and D907 through Les Gets before dropping down into Morzine, 79.7 km in all. The alternative via Cluses on the D902 is 88.9 km and takes about the same time, so your chauffeur chooses between them on the day, depending on traffic and snow.

The motorway section is quick and predictable. The mountain section is where snow and Saturday traffic decide how long the drive takes: the climb to Les Gets, then the descent into Morzine, which sits in the valley of the Dranse de Morzine, the river that runs on down to Thonon-les-Bains on Lake Geneva.

Our Les Gets route covers Les Gets separately. Avoriaz, higher up beyond Morzine and reached from Les Prodains, has its own Avoriaz transfer page.

Which Airport Is Best for Morzine?

Geneva is the practical airport for Morzine by a wide margin. It has flights from across the UK through the winter, and the drive is short enough that an evening landing still gets you to your chalet the same night.

Set that against Geneva's runs to the Tarentaise, such as our Geneva to Val Thorens transfers, which keep you on the road for more than twice as long. If your flights only work through Lyon, Morzine is reachable from there too, though it is a considerably longer drive; see our Lyon Airport page for that service.

Other Ways to Reach Morzine

These are the options from Geneva Airport to Morzine:

  • Chalet company shared transfer: often included or charged per seat, timed around a group of flights
  • Scheduled coach: winter only, from the airport coach station, to a fixed timetable
  • Train and bus: no railway in Morzine, so a train to Thonon-les-Bains or Cluses, then a coach
  • Hire car: your own wheels for the week, with the winter rules and parking yours to handle
  • Private transfer: one vehicle for your party, leaving when you land, from £321

Chalet Company and Shared Transfers

Shared transfers are good value, and what you trade is time. Simply Morzine's published transfer terms say guests may wait at the airport for up to 60 minutes in winter and up to 120 in summer, longer for flights landing before 09:00 or after 21:00. Those are fair terms for a shared service, and with the early departure home described above, they are the hours a private car gives back.

Scheduled Coaches

The Morzine Avoriaz tourist office says regular coach services run between Geneva Airport and Morzine during the winter season only, and links to Altibus for bookings. Timetables are set season by season, so check the service for your travel date before you rely on it.

Train and Bus

There is no railway station in Morzine. The tourist office lists Cluses and Thonon-les-Bains as the nearest stations, each about 40 minutes' drive from the resort, and Altibus runs its Y91 coach from Thonon and Y92 from Cluses to Morzine all year, with one hold bag and one pair of skis included in the fare. It works for light travellers. With a family's ski kit, it is a long day of changes.

Hire Car

If you hire a car, Simply Morzine advises collecting it on the Swiss side of the airport, where motorway access is easier. Geneva Airport notes that its French sector can be reached only by road, via the customs road from Ferney-Voltaire. In Morzine, central street parking is a one hour blue zone with a disc, according to the tourist office's guide to arriving by car, so check where your accommodation lets you park. The winter equipment rules below are yours to meet.

For a chalet group with kit, or a flight that lands outside the shared runs, a private car is the option that fits around you. For more on planning an Alpine arrival, read our guide to seamless transfers from airports to ski resorts.

Local Rules on the Road to Morzine

Morzine is in Haute-Savoie, where France's mountain law, the Loi Montagne, applies winter equipment rules from 1 November to 31 March in zones signed at their entry and exit. Inside them, a vehicle must either run on four winter tyres marked 3PMSF or carry chains or textile snow socks for at least two drive wheels. The French government's guidance on winter equipment says only 3PMSF tyres count as an alternative to chains from 1 November 2024, so tyres marked M+S alone no longer qualify.

If you are hiring a car, check what it is fitted with before you leave Geneva. If you travel with us, your chauffeur handles it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a private transfer from Geneva to Morzine?

A private transfer from Geneva Airport to Morzine starts from £321 for the 50 mile journey to Morzine centre, in a vehicle used only by your party. The price is fixed when you book. Your party size, the vehicle class you need, your drop point and the week you travel set the final figure, and nothing is added on the day.

How long does the transfer from Geneva to Morzine take?

About an hour and a quarter in good conditions, for 79.7 km. Saturday changeovers, school holiday weeks and snow on the mountain road all add time. Allow for passport control and baggage at Geneva as well, because UK passengers clear both before the drive starts. With flight monitoring, your chauffeur waits for you rather than the other way round.

Is there a bus or train from Geneva Airport to Morzine?

There are coaches in winter, but no direct train. The Morzine tourist office says regular coach services run from Geneva Airport in the winter season only, leaving from the coach station on the Arrivals level. By rail, you take a train to Thonon-les-Bains or Cluses, then an Altibus coach. Check timetables for your date, and allow far longer than the drive.

Can I get an Uber or taxi from Geneva Airport to Morzine?

You can, but neither gives you a fixed price weeks in advance. Geneva Airport says ride-hailing services are available there, and official taxis wait at a rank outside Arrivals. The airport's taxi flat fares cover set local destinations, other journeys are charged per kilometre, and app fares are set by the platform when you request. A pre-booked transfer is priced before you fly.

Will the car take me to my chalet door?

Where vehicles are permitted, your chauffeur takes you to your accommodation, and otherwise to the nearest permitted drop-off. Morzine is not car-free like Avoriaz, but street parking in the centre is limited. Give us the name and full address of your accommodation when you book, and we will confirm where the vehicle can stop before you travel.

How long should I allow between landing and my pickup?

With a private transfer, you do not need to build in a margin. Your chauffeur follows your flight and meets you when you come through, whether passport control takes a few minutes or far longer. The margin matters for fixed departures: Altibus, for example, advises allowing three hours between a flight and its coaches, because nobody can predict the queue.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing changes for you. We monitor your flight and adjust your pickup time automatically, so your chauffeur is waiting when you actually land. You do not need to call, rebook or worry about missing a shared run, which matters most on a late evening arrival, when shared services tend to keep passengers waiting longest.
