Grenoble to Les Deux Alpes Transfers

Your Private Transfer From Grenoble to Les Deux Alpes
Grenoble to Les Deux Alpes transfers with Airport Executive cover 109 km, or 68 miles, from the airport to the resort centre. The journey takes approximately 1 hour 34 minutes in good conditions, in a private, chauffeur-driven vehicle for your party alone, from £252. There is no stop at another resort and no bus timetable to keep to.
Your journey starts at Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport (GNB), which is not in Grenoble itself. The airport sits at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, about 45 km north-west of the city, so a taxi or bus "to Grenoble" is only the first leg of a much longer trip. Your chauffeur drives you all the way to the resort without a change of vehicle.
Most of the drive is motorway and valley road. The part nobody wants after a flight comes last: beyond Le Bourg-d'Oisans and the Chambon dam, the D213 climbs to the resort, often in winter weather and sometimes after dark. With children, a week of ski kit or a group to keep together, it is far easier to sit back and let a professional chauffeur take that climb for you.
Les Deux Alpes sits at 1,650 metres, and its glacier takes the ski area up to 3,600 metres, according to the Les 2 Alpes tourist office's ski area guide. The glacier keeps skiing going into May, so alongside families on a February half term week, the resort draws early-season, late-season and glacier skiers, all heading up the same road.
Flying into Geneva instead? Our Geneva to Les Deux Alpes transfers cover the longer drive of about 214 km, from £594. Grenoble is one of several gateways on our France destinations network.

How Much Is a Grenoble to Les Deux Alpes Transfer?
A private Grenoble to Les Deux Alpes transfer starts from £252 for the 109 km (68 mile) journey to the resort centre, which takes approximately 1 hour 34 minutes in good conditions. The vehicle carries your party only, and the price is fixed when you book.
Group size moves your final price most, because a family of four and a group of eight need different vehicles, from a comfortable estate car up to an executive minibus. Where you are staying in the resort also counts, and so do your dates, with school holidays the busiest weeks.
The from-price runs to the resort centre. Venosc, Mont-de-Lans and other addresses in the resort are priced when you book, once we have your exact address.
Larger groups on this route often ask us the same thing: how does that compare with a shared shuttle? For most parties, a shared seat costs less per head. Ben's Bus publishes Saturday fares of £36 single and £63 return per person on this route, with lower fares for groups on the same flights. Our price is for the whole vehicle rather than per seat, so the gap narrows as your group grows. Shared between five people, £252 comes to about £50 each, still more than a Saturday single seat, and the vehicle class your luggage needs can change the figure.
Nothing is added on the day because the valley was busy or snow was falling on the D213.
Areas of Les Deux Alpes We Cover
Les Deux Alpes has several arrival points, and free resort shuttles link its areas and car parks during the season, according to the tourist office's free shuttle guide. Tell us your full address when you book, including the name of your residence or chalet, so we can plan the final approach before you fly.
Resort Centre and Place des 2 Alpes
The centre of the resort is Place des 2 Alpes, where the tourist office sits at number 4. The main shared shuttle stop is in front of it, a large sheltered stop in the middle of town. The resort centre is the reference point for our £252 from-price.
The Resort Entrance and Outer Areas
Coming up the D213, you reach the resort entrance first. There is a roundabout here, a bus stop called Point Info just before it, and the Les Glaciers car park. Shared shuttles also stop near the Télésiège du Diable chairlift, and the public bus serves stops including Palais des Sports.
If you are staying near the entrance, our chauffeurs would usually set you down on the way in, rather than driving through to Place des 2 Alpes and doubling back.
Venosc and Mont-de-Lans
The tourist office says Les 2 Alpes also includes the villages of Venosc and Mont de Lans, for a more traditional village stay. We cover both, and price them at booking once we have your address.
If part of your group is skiing the neighbouring Oisans resort, our Grenoble to Alpe d'Huez transfers use the same valley road but turn off at Le Bourg-d'Oisans for the D211.
Meeting Your Chauffeur at Grenoble Airport
Arriving at Grenoble
Your chauffeur will be waiting in arrivals, holding a name board. We track your flight from the moment it leaves, so if you are delayed or you land early, your pickup time moves with you.
Grenoble Alpes Isère is a small airport, and most of its passengers arrive on winter ski flights. When several of those land close together, the arrivals hall and baggage reclaim fill up quickly, and ski and board bags can take longer to appear than suitcases. Take your time. Your chauffeur will be waiting, and will help you load it all.
From Grenoble Airport, your chauffeur takes the motorway round the city and heads straight for the mountains, with no detour into Grenoble.
Returning to Grenoble Airport
We time your return pickup around the drive down the D213, the road conditions on the day and your airline's check-in and bag drop deadlines, so check those on your booking and tell us your flight time.
On a Saturday, our chauffeurs heading down usually meet the coaches bringing next week's guests up the D213, so we allow extra time. We confirm the pickup time and place before you leave, and a return booked with your outbound journey sits on the same booking.
Vehicles Built for Ski Gear
A week in Les Deux Alpes means skis or a board, boots, a helmet and warm clothes for everyone in your party. For a family of four, that is already more than a standard saloon can take.
We match the vehicle to what you are carrying as well as to how many of you there are. Estate cars handle smaller parties with soft ski bags. Larger MPVs and executive minibuses take groups of six to eight with full equipment, so your party stays in one vehicle.
When you book, tell us how many ski bags, board bags and boot bags you are bringing, plus anything bulky such as a pushchair or a hard-shell case. We allocate the vehicle before you fly, so nothing needs rearranging at the kerb.
Groups often split across chalets and apartments in different parts of the resort. If your party has more than one address, give us each one when you book, and we will plan the drop-offs in turn on a single journey.
Winter Timing Tips
Allow more than 1 hour 34 minutes on a winter Saturday. The main shared shuttle quotes about 2 hours for this route, and snow on the D213 can add more.
The season window is where a private transfer helps most. The tourist office gives the 2026/27 winter season as 28 November 2026 to 2 May 2027, with high-altitude skiing on the glacier from 3 to 30 May 2027. Ben's Bus runs its Grenoble Airport shuttle from 5 December 2026 to 17 April 2027, and on those first and last days it runs in one direction only. Once the shuttles stop, our bookings here tend to come from families staying into late April and ski clubs heading up for the May glacier weeks, and a private transfer runs on their dates.
Travellers on evening flights into Grenoble often ask what to do if the last shuttle has gone, and the usual advice they get is to book a hotel in Grenoble and take the first bus up in the morning. A private transfer removes that overnight stop, because it is not tied to a bus timetable.
Book early for Christmas, New Year and February half term, particularly if your group needs one of the larger vehicles.
Your chauffeur drives this valley through the season in a vehicle prepared for it. For more on how we handle mountain routes, read our guide to seamless transfers from airports to ski resorts.

Book your transferThe Grenoble to Les Deux Alpes Route
The route from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes covers 109 km and takes approximately 1 hour 34 minutes in good conditions. It runs on the motorway round Grenoble, then up the Romanche valley on the D1091, then climbs the D213 from the Chambon dam to the resort.
From the airport, the motorway takes you towards Grenoble and round the city to Vizille, which the tourist office gives as exit 8. From there the D1091 follows the Romanche valley towards Briançon, passing through Le Bourg-d'Oisans. Most of the distance is covered on this stretch, steady driving in clear conditions.
At the Chambon dam, the road turns right onto the D213. This is the climb up to the resort at 1,650 metres: steep, winding and the part of the journey most affected by snow.
The Département de l'Isère publishes roadworks, closures and live traffic on Itinisère, the Isère roads information service, so check it before you travel if you are driving. We monitor conditions on the route and plan your pickup around them.
You may see other distances quoted. The tourist office gives 120 km from the airport, and transfer sites range from about 108 km upwards, depending on the route and the drop point. Our 109 km is the fastest driving route from the airport to the resort centre, the same figure the main shared shuttle gives for its route. Some lower figures you may see, around 70 km, describe the distance from Grenoble's railway station, not the airport.
Which Airport Is Best for Les Deux Alpes?
Grenoble is the closest airport to Les Deux Alpes by a long way, at 109 km. Lyon Saint-Exupéry is about 160 km away and Geneva about 214 km by our measure.
The tourist office gives similar figures, 160 km for Lyon and 220 km for Geneva. From Geneva, our transfer is 133 miles, from £594: our Geneva to Les Deux Alpes transfers page covers that route in full, and our Geneva Airport transfers page covers the airport.
The trade-off is flight choice. Grenoble's flights are mostly winter services aimed at skiers, while Lyon and Geneva offer more year-round choice of airline and departure airport. If your flights work better through Lyon, see our Lyon Airport transfers.
Our honest advice: if your flight is already booked into Geneva, book your transfer from there. If you can choose, Grenoble puts you on the slopes soonest.
Other Ways to Reach Les Deux Alpes
Shared Shuttle
Shared shuttles are the cheapest way to travel per head. The main one sets down at three resort stops: Point Info at the entrance, Place 2 Alpes in the centre and a stop near the Télésiège du Diable. It runs only within the season dates above and keeps to its own schedule, so you may wait for other passengers or set down after them.
Public Bus
A regular public bus runs to the resort from Grenoble bus station. According to Transaltitude's Les 2 Alpes page, the journey takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, single fares start at €23.50 online, one luggage pack is included per ticket and extra baggage costs €50. First, though, you need to get from the airport into Grenoble, about 45 km away. The tourist office also lists year-round regional buses with a change at Le Bourg-d'Oisans. With ski bags, every connection means unloading and reloading everything.
Train
There is no railway station in Les Deux Alpes. Trains reach Grenoble, which the tourist office's getting there guide puts 70 km from the resort, and you continue by bus or taxi. It suits light luggage better than a week of ski kit.
Hire Car
A hire car gives you freedom in the valley, but every cost and every task becomes yours. Budget for winter equipment, motorway tolls, fuel and resort parking. Parking in Les Deux Alpes is paid in winter from 1 December to 30 April across the resort centre and outer zones, with car parks including Les Glaciers at the resort entrance and an underground car park at Place de l'Alpe de Venosc. You also drive the D213 yourself after a flight.
Taxi
Local taxi firms run transfers from airports and stations, and the tourist office lists one with vehicles of three to nine seats.
If you are travelling with ski kit, with children or as a group, arriving early or late in the season, or landing at an awkward hour, our advice is to book a private transfer.
Local Rules on the Road to Les Deux Alpes
Winter Equipment Rules
Winter equipment is compulsory from 1 November to 31 March on the road to Les Deux Alpes, according to the Les 2 Alpes tourist office's road conditions page. You need either four winter or four-season tyres, or removable anti-skid devices such as chains or snow socks.
The French government's winter driving guidance sets out the detail for the mountain roads where the rule applies: four winter tyres marked 3PMSF, the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol, or chains or snow socks for at least two drive wheels. It is one or the other, not both. If you travel with us, this is handled for you.
Licenced Operators and Why It Matters
France regulates private hire chauffeurs under the VTC regime. Drivers hold a professional card obtained by examination and valid for five years, operators must register on the VTC operator register, and two compulsory insurance policies cover traffic and operating liability. Picking up passengers without a prior booking is prohibited, which is worth remembering before you accept a lift offered at the kerb. Airport Executive is a fully licenced operator.
Parking and Access in Resort
Paid parking zones and car park charges only matter if you drive. Your chauffeur takes you to your accommodation where vehicles are permitted, or to the nearest permitted drop-off point, helps you unload and then leaves, so there is no space to find and no car to move during your week.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a private transfer from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes?
A private transfer from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes starts from £252 for the 68-mile journey to the resort centre, fixed at booking. Venosc, Mont-de-Lans and other addresses are priced when you book. Shared shuttles cost less per head for most parties, but our price is for the whole vehicle, so the gap narrows as your group grows.
How long does the transfer from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes take?
Approximately 1 hour 34 minutes in good conditions. Saturday changeover traffic and snow on the D213 add time, and Ben's Bus quotes about 2 hours for its shared journey, which includes stops in the resort. We plan your pickup around your flight and the conditions on the day.
How far is Les Deux Alpes from Grenoble Airport?
Around 109 km, or 68 miles, by the fastest road route to the resort centre. Other sites quote between about 108 and 120 km, depending on the route and the drop point. Grenoble's railway station is closer, about 70 km from the resort, because the airport sits about 45 km north-west of the city.
Is the road to Les Deux Alpes difficult in winter?
The steep part is the D213, which climbs from the Chambon dam to the resort at 1,650 metres. The Les 2 Alpes tourist office says winter equipment is compulsory from 1 November to 31 March, and snow can slow the climb. If you are driving, check Itinisère before setting off. With us, your chauffeur handles the road and we monitor conditions.
Is there a bus from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes?
Yes. Ben's Bus runs shared shuttles from the airport between 5 December 2026 and 17 April 2027, and a public bus runs from Grenoble bus station in about 1 hour 45 minutes. The limits are the season window, fixed resort stops, luggage and, for the public bus, getting from the airport into Grenoble first.
Can you get to Les Deux Alpes by train?
No. There is no station in the resort. Trains reach Grenoble, about 70 km away, and the bus from Grenoble bus station takes about 1 hour 45 minutes. With ski bags, the changes make it harder than the timetable suggests.
What if my flight lands late at night?
Your chauffeur collects you when you land. We monitor your flight and adjust the pickup time, so a late landing does not leave you looking for a hotel in Grenoble and a morning bus. A private transfer is not tied to a shuttle timetable.
