Meet the Chauffeur: Ewa Szymanek, BMW i5

The first in our Meet the Chauffeur series, in which the people who do the driving describe the work in their own words. Ewa Szymanek joined Airport Executive in April.

There is a particular kind of person who makes the chaos of travel feel as though it is not happening. They have thought three steps ahead before you have closed the car door, and by the time you notice how calm you feel, you have stopped wondering why. Ewa is one of those people.

Why She Does It

Her route into chauffeuring was not accidental, and her account of it is disarmingly plain.

"I became a chauffeur because I enjoy driving, meeting new people, and providing a professional service. I like making passengers feel comfortable and relaxed during their journey. What keeps me doing it is the variety of the job and the satisfaction of giving clients a smooth and pleasant experience."

No mention of prestige. No mention of the cars. She likes people, and she likes delivering them somewhere in one piece and in a good mood. It is an unfashionably simple ambition, and one that a great deal of this industry has quietly abandoned.

The Journey She Returns To

One journey comes up more than the others, and it is not a dramatic one. A passenger was convinced they were about to miss an important flight, with heavy traffic between them and the terminal and no obvious way through it.

"I stayed calm, planned the best alternative route, and kept reassuring them throughout the journey. We arrived at the airport on time, and the passenger thanked me for helping them stay relaxed during a stressful situation. It felt good knowing I made a real difference to their day."

Calm comes before the route in her telling, and that is the correct order. A passenger in that condition needs both, and only one of them can be found on a map.

On London Traffic

Anyone who drives professionally in this city holds a view on its roads. Ewa's is unsentimental. She allows extra time as a matter of course, takes the safest efficient route rather than the fastest theoretical one, and then attends to the part that actually determines how the journey feels.

"Passengers usually take energy from the driver. So I keep a professional and relaxed attitude, communicate clearly if there is traffic, and make sure they still feel comfortable and looked after during the journey."

Passengers take their energy from the driver. It accounts for almost everything about why one journey leaves you frayed and another does not.

The Things You Would Only Notice If They Stopped

Five star service, seen from behind the wheel, turns out to be a quiet list of things nobody ever remarks upon.

"It is about being punctual, driving safely, keeping the vehicle clean, and paying attention to small details like temperature, luggage assistance, and a calm atmosphere. Passengers may not always notice these things directly, but they would definitely notice if they were missing."

The same instinct governs her routine before a client appears. The vehicle checked and properly presented, the route and traffic reviewed, the timing settled. Then comes the part that appears on no checklist.

"I take a moment to focus and switch into professional mode so I can stay calm, alert, and ready to give the passenger a smooth, stress free experience from the moment they step in."

A small ritual, performed alone in a car park, that the passenger never sees and always feels.

What People Thank Her For

The thing passengers thank her for most often is neither the route nor the timing.

"Passengers often thank me for staying calm and making them feel comfortable, especially after a long flight or a stressful day. Sometimes it is the simple things, like a smooth ride, good communication, or just creating a relaxed atmosphere during the journey."

Nobody thanks a driver for the horsepower. They thank them for twenty minutes of quiet at the end of a very long day.

Against the App

On the choice between Airport Executive and an app based ride service, Ewa answers as she would to a friend rather than as a brochure would.

"I would honestly say it depends on what you value. With Airport Executive, you get a more personal, consistent service. A professional driver who is focused on your comfort, timing, and the whole experience, not just the ride itself. It feels more reliable and tailored, especially for airport trips where stress levels are already high."

Then, unprompted: "App based services can be quicker to book and sometimes cheaper, but the experience can vary a lot from driver to driver."

A fair concession, and a precise one. Consistency is the entire argument, and it takes a driver to put it that plainly.

The Car

Ewa drives a 2025 BMW i5. "One thing I love about my vehicle is how smooth and quiet the ride is," she says. Whisper quiet, zero emission, composed at every speed. Much like its driver.

In Her Own Words

Every feature in this series closes the same way, with one sentence for the driver to finish however they choose. Being an Airport Executive chauffeur means…

"…delivering a calm, reliable, and comfortable experience where every journey is handled with care, professionalism, and attention to detail."

A few months into the role, and nothing about that answer sounds new.
