Roads and travel planning
Known slow zones
- A8 Glasgow Road (airport approach) sees heavy congestion during events at the Royal Highland Centre
- Newbridge Roundabout (M9–M8–A8 interchange) regularly backed up
- A720 City Bypass sees frequent rush-hour delays and incidents
- Queensferry Crossing (A90/M90): high wind warnings restrict tall vehicles. Always check bridge status
When to allow extra time
- Weekday peak hours: 07:00–09:30 and 16:30–19:00
- Public event weekends, especially during August festivals or the Royal Highland Show
- Long-haul arrivals: allow 45–60+ minutes post-gate for luggage
- UK/EU short-haul: meet driver 30–45 minutes after gate
- No arrivals fast-track at EDI
We allow for these in planning, but if you are connecting to a train, ferry or flight, let us know and we will build in extra time.
