Meeting Your Driver at Cape Town Airport
Arrivals
Cape Town International Airport operates from a single Central Terminal Building that connects the International Terminal to the north and the Domestic Terminal to the south. Arrivals for both international and domestic passengers are processed on the ground floor.
For international arrivals, your journey from landing to the arrivals hall takes you through passport control, baggage claim and customs. Your chauffeur will be waiting in the International Arrivals Hall with a personalised name board as you come through the customs exit. Contact details are included in your booking confirmation if you need to reach your driver before you come through.
For domestic arrivals, there is no passport control. After collecting your luggage you walk directly into the Domestic Arrivals Hall, where your chauffeur will be waiting with a name board.
Departures
Your driver will collect you from your hotel, guesthouse or private address and deliver you to the correct terminal in good time for your departure. The N2 motorway connecting the city to the airport can experience congestion during peak hours, particularly in the morning and late afternoon. Your driver will factor this in when setting your pickup time.

Contact Moda Exotica on +27 (0)21 936 2494 for the international departures service.
Dining
Cape Town Airport has a solid range of food and drink across the terminal, with the majority of options found airside in the departures concourse.
Vida e Caffè — South Africa's best-known specialty coffee brand, inspired by Portuguese espresso culture and serving strong, smooth coffee alongside pastéis de nata and light bites. Branches in both International Arrivals and Domestic Departures.
Mugg & Bean — a South African café-restaurant institution known for generous portions, hearty all-day breakfasts and bottomless filtered coffee. One of the most reliably satisfying options in the terminal, with multiple locations including airside.
Kauai — South Africa's leading health-food chain, offering smoothie bowls, açaí blends, protein wraps and fresh juices. Located airside, it is a popular choice for passengers after something fresh before a long flight.
Ocean Basket Express — a compact version of South Africa's favourite seafood restaurant chain, serving sushi, calamari, grilled fish fillets and seafood platters in the departures area.
Spur (Soaring Hawk Spur) — one of South Africa's most recognisable restaurant chains, serving American-style steaks, ribs, burgers and generous sides. Located on the Mezzanine Level of the Central Terminal Building, landside before security.
Illy Go! — a compact Italian espresso bar serving smooth Illy-branded coffee alongside paninis and pastries. A quick, quality option airside before boarding.
Wimpy — a South African breakfast and burger institution, open from early morning and well-suited to passengers with early departures who need a proper meal before a long flight.
Shopping
The international departures hall has a well-stocked duty-free area covering perfumes, cosmetics, liquor, tobacco and confectionery. Alongside the international brands, the terminal stocks a good selection of South African gifts including locally bottled Cape Winelands wines, biltong, rooibos tea and handcrafted souvenirs. If you have not had a chance to pick up gifts during your stay, the airport offers a final opportunity to take something characteristically South African home with you.
Timing Your Cape Town Transfer
Arriving Into CPT
For international arrivals, the full process from landing to the arrivals hall takes you through passport control, baggage claim and customs. At quiet times this typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. During peak periods, when several international flights land close together, immigration queues can extend significantly and the process may run to an hour or more. Your driver will be tracking your flight and will adjust their schedule to match your actual arrival time.
For domestic arrivals, there is no passport control. Most passengers are through baggage claim and into the arrivals hall within 15 to 20 minutes of landing.
Departing From CPT
For international flights, Cape Town Airport recommends arriving at least three hours before your scheduled departure. This allows sufficient time for check-in, baggage drop, security and passport control. During peak travel periods such as South African school holidays and public holiday long weekends, we recommend allowing three hours and 30 minutes.
For domestic flights, arrive at least two hours before your scheduled departure. Check-in and baggage drop for domestic routes typically close one hour before departure. During busy periods, allow two hours and 30 minutes.

Top Attractions in Cape Town
Table Mountain National Park
The single most iconic sight in Cape Town, Table Mountain rises to over 1,000 metres above the city and offers unrivalled views across the Atlantic Ocean, the Cape Peninsula and the Winelands beyond. The aerial cable car has been running since 1929 and takes passengers to the summit in minutes. The national park extends all the way south to Cape Point, protecting one of the most biodiverse floral regions on earth. The mountain is visible from almost everywhere in the city and remains breathtaking no matter how many times you see it.
V&A Waterfront
One of Africa's most visited destinations, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is a working harbour that has evolved into a world-class precinct of restaurants, boutiques, museums and hotels. It is home to the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), the Cape Town Diamond Museum, and the ferry terminal for departures to Robben Island. The mountain backdrop and harbour setting make it one of the most photographed locations in South Africa, and it draws an international crowd at any time of year.
Robben Island
A UNESCO World Heritage Site lying a few kilometres off the coast, Robben Island is where Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners were held during the apartheid era. The island is reached by ferry from the V&A Waterfront, and tours of the prison are led by former political prisoners, giving the experience an extraordinarily direct and personal weight. It is one of the most important historical sites in Africa and one of the most powerful in the world.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden
Set on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch is considered one of the great botanical gardens of the world and protects thousands of South African plant species across its 36 hectares of manicured gardens and natural fynbos. The Tree Canopy Walkway provides elevated views across the forest, and the garden hosts a much-loved summer concert series on Sunday evenings. A beautiful and tranquil escape from the city, and one of Cape Town's most rewarding experiences.
Cape Point
The dramatic headland at the southern tip of the Cape Peninsula towers 249 metres above the meeting of the Atlantic and Indian Ocean currents. Part of Table Mountain National Park, Cape Point is reached by a spectacular drive along the western side of the peninsula through the reserve. A funicular runs to the old lighthouse at the summit for clifftop views that reach to the horizon. Baboons, ostriches and Cape mountain zebras roam freely throughout the reserve and are often encountered on the road.
Boulders Beach Penguin Colony
A sheltered cove near Simon's Town on the eastern shore of the Cape Peninsula, Boulders Beach is home to a colony of several thousand African penguins. Boardwalks allow visitors to observe the birds at close range in their natural environment, making it one of the most memorable wildlife experiences in the country. The drive along the False Bay coastline from Cape Town to Simon's Town is itself one of the most scenic routes in South Africa, and well worth taking at a relaxed pace.
Stellenbosch
South Africa's premier wine town, Stellenbosch sits in a beautiful valley of oak-lined streets and Cape Dutch architecture approximately 30 minutes from the airport. The surrounding winelands contain some of the finest estates in the southern hemisphere, producing world-class Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc. The town has an excellent restaurant and food culture, and its university gives it an energy that distinguishes it from other wine towns in the region.
Camps Bay
A glamorous beachside suburb on Cape Town's Atlantic Seaboard, Camps Bay combines a wide, palm-fringed beach with a lively strip of restaurants, bars and boutique hotels that attract an international crowd throughout the year. The beach looks directly out to sea with the Twelve Apostles mountain range rising steeply behind, creating one of the most dramatic and beautiful settings for a sunset in the whole of South Africa. It is a short drive from the city bowl and one of Cape Town's most sought-after addresses.
